Data-driven insights demonstrating the effectiveness of career awareness workshops in rural educational settings

Deconstructing Educational Barriers and

Career Paths in the South Asian Context

This research paper analyzes the cultural, institutional, and awareness-based factors shaping career choices among South Asian students, particularly the heavy focus on medicine, engineering, and technology. It compiles data from pre- and post-workshop surveys, highlighting how exposure to diverse career options influences student interest and willingness to explore alternative paths. The research aims to quantify the impact of career awareness initiatives like Beyond The Usual Path and provide a framework for educators and policymakers to encourage more informed, passion-driven decision-making.

Research Methodology

This study employed a primarily quantitative approach to measure the impact of career awareness workshops on students in rural South Asia. Pre- and post-workshop surveys, completed by approximately 500 participants respectively, assessed career awareness, willingness to explore non-traditional fields, and confidence in accessing resources. Survey data were analyzed using Google Gemini AI to calculate percentage changes and identify key trends, ensuring a rigorous evaluation of the program’s effectiveness.
